Nampeyo, Fannie – Mini Bowl with Rain and Water Designs (1976)
$ 300.00
Fannie Nampeyo was the youngest daughter of noted potter Nampeyo of Hano and also the mother of noted potters Iris Nampeyo, Leah Nampeyo, and Thomas Polacca. She was certainly among the most skilled of her generation in painting and designing pottery. While her mother revived the “migration” or bird wing design, Fannie made it a signature design of her pottery and of the Nampeyo family. This small bowl has a classic rain, cloud, and water design that encircles the piece. It is painted with bee-weed and clay slips. The bowl has beautiful colorations from the firing. It is signed, “Fannie Nampeyo” and a corn plant for Corn Clan. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
