Nampeyo, Loren Hamilton – Seedpot with Pueblo Scene, Corn, and Tewa Sun
$ 325.00
Loren Hamilton is a son of noted potter Tonita Nampeyo and a grandson of Fannie Nampeyo. This seedpot is coil-built, carved, painted with native clays, and traditionally fired. The piece has a Pueblo scene, a rising Tewa Sun, and a large stalk of corn. They are all carved into the clay and then painted with clay slips to create the various designs. The background is fully etched with thin lines. The designs are intricately painted, and the remainder is fully polished tan (the natural color of the clay). The seedpot was traditionally fired and it is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Loren H Nampeyo”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
