Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowl. This bowl is from 1995. It is his classic style of “faceted” melon jar. Each rib extends from the rim to the base and they are flattened to create a “faceted” appearance. The 44 ribs are evenly spaced and create a swirl from the rim to the base. The combination of the swirl and facet created the most visually striking of his pieces. The bowl is highly polished and fired a glassy black. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
