Chino Charlie, Carrie – Wedding Vase with Heartline Deer and Rianbows (1970’s)

Carrie Chino Charlie (1925-2012) was a daughter of Marie Z. Chino.  She was a sister to Grace Chino, Vera Chino, and Rose Chino Garcia.  This is one of the few pieces of her work we have had in the gallery.  The wedding vase is made from native clay and polished.  It is painted with bee-weed and red clay.  The wedding vase has heartline deer and plants as the main design.  Below are clouds and rainbows.  It is tightly painted.  The handle of the wedding vase is braided.  It was traditionally fired to create slight color variations on the surface.  The piece is signed, “C. Chino”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
