Tafoya, Ray – Multi-Color Jar with Deer Dancer and Feather Designs (1985)

This is a long neck jar by Ray Tafoya.  It is fully polished and conical in shape.  It has a medallion on one side with a Deer or Elk Dancer.  It might be an Elk dancer as the antlers are so elongated.  There are additional feathers etched into the clay along the band of the medallion.  The neck has cloud and storm designs.  Near the base are additional clouds.  It is a very complex piece for his work. It is highlighted with additional yellow and blue clay slips.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom with his hallmark that means “White Mountain” in Tewa and “RT”
