Begay, Daniel – “A Touch of Beauty” Butterfly and Waterfall Jar
$ 1,500.00
This is a tall jar by Daniel Begay. The piece is coil-built, carved, stone-polished, and traditionally fired. The jar is entitled, “A Touch of Beauty” and has a single large butterfly carved into the clay. As the jar is turned, there are swirling clouds and a waterfall on the back of the jar. Note the complexity of the wings of the butterfly and their component designs. The angular style of the waterfall is in contrast to the swirling clouds. The jar has contrasting polished and matte areas. Daniel is creative with what areas are polished and which are matte, as they accentuate his creative and complicated carved designs. The style of carving has a beveled appearance to the angle of the cuts into the clay. The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Daniel Begay”.
