Rose Naranjo is the matriarch of one of the amazing families at Santa Clara Pueblo. Descendants include Roxanne Swentzell, Jody Folwell, Susan Folwell, Johnathan Naranjo, Rose Simpson, Nora Naranjo-Morse, and many others! It is not often that we come across her pottery. This piece is made from micaceous clay. It is a jar with a wide shoulder and a short neck. There is a sculpted handle on one side. It is signed on the bottom, “Rose”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is a unique piece by this influential matriarch.
