Teller, Robin – Clay Corn Maiden Holding Corn (1980s)

Robin Teller (b. 1954) is a daughter of noted potter Stella Teller.  This is one of her classic Corn Maiden figures. The Corn Maiden is holding a bowl with ears of corn.  The front of the figure is carved with corn kernels.  The back is carved into the clay and it is apitned with a stalk of corn.  The sides have flute players.  The figure is painted with various clay slips and was traditionally fired. There ar turquoise earrings added after the firing.  It is a complex and charming piece.  The storyteller is painted with native clay slips.  It is signed on the bottom, “Robin Teller”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
