Kahe, Val – 9″ Tall Cannister with Shard Designs

Val Kahe is a daughter of noted potter Gloria Kahe. This tall cannister is coil-built, stone-polished, and painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay slips. The shape is difficult to make and keep the sides straight and even. The entire piece (even the inside!) is fully stone polished. The designs are shard and geometric patterns, and remind me of the work of her mother, Gloria. It is highlighted with red clay slips. The piece has been traditionally fired to create fire clouds. It is signed on the bottom, “V. Kahe”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
