Diane Lewis-Garcia is known for her tightly painted miniature pottery.  This is an intricately designed seedpot that is painted with bee-weed (black) and clay slips.  There are two Mimbres lizards, along with a Mimbres quail.  Surrounding them are fine-line starbursts and triangular mountain designs. The colors are all derived from native clays and add to the impact of the design.  It is signed on the bottom, “D. Lewis-Garcia”.

Diane Lewis

Diane Lewis is a daughter of Kathleen Lewis and a sister of noted potters Rebecca Lucario, Marilyn Ray, Judy Lewis, and Carolyn Concho. She is known for her miniature pottery and the use of traditional and Mimbres imagery. She has won numerous awards at the Heard Museum Market and Gallup Ceremonials.
