Elvis Torres is the great-great-grandson of noted potter Tonita Pena and his great-grandmother was Isabel Pena Martinez. His mother is Philipita Torres. This is one of his larger pieces. The jar has a sharp shoulder and sloping side. The entire piece is fully polished. There is a cloud design around the neck of the jar. Above the shoulder is a feather and plant design. The design is certainly reminiscent of San Ildefonso pottery from 1920s. The jar was traditionally fired. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Elvis “Tsee-Pin” Torres. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
