Nampeyo, Loren Hamilton – Bowl with Hano Katsina, Squash Flower, and Corn

5"w x 3.5"h

$ 450.00

Loren Hamilton is a son of noted potter Tonita Nampeyo and a grandson of Fannie Nampeyo.  This bowl is coil-built, carved, painted with native clays, and traditionally fired.  The bowl has a Hano Katsina and squash blossom on one side.  As the piece is turned, there is a Pueblo scene with corn in a field.  Finally, there is an ear of corn carved at various levels into the clay.  All the designs are carved into the clay and then painted with clay slips to create the various designs.  The background is fully etched with thin lines.  The designs are intricately painted, and the remainder is fully polished tan (the natural color of the clay).  The bowl was traditionally fired and it is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Loren H Nampeyo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
