Nampeyo, Loren Hamilton – 7″ Tall Jar with Double Shalako Katsinas and Pueblo Scene

5.5"w x 7.25"h

$ 800.00

Loren Hamilton is a son of noted potter Tonita Nampeyo and a grandson of Fannie Nampeyo.  This jar is coil-built, carved, painted with native clays, and traditionally fired.  The jar has a round body and an asymmetric shape.  There are two large Shalako Katsinas carved into the clay and painted with clay slips.  Below them is a Pueblo scene.  The remainder of the jar is stone polished.  All the designs are carved into the clay and then painted with clay slips to create the various designs.  The background is fully etched with thin lines.  The designs are intricately painted, and the remainder is fully polished tan (the natural color of the clay).  The bowl was traditionally fired and it is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Loren H Nampeyo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
