Helen Henderson is a daughter of Vangie Tafoya and a sister of Brenda Tafoya.  She is known for her polished and incised pottery.  This is one of her classic pieces that is an oval shape. The jar is polished red on the front and tan on the back. The sides are carved with a single melon rib.  The front is etched with a hummingbird and flowers. They are accented with white, red, and black clay slips.  There is a piece of turquoise for the eye of the hummingbird. It is signed “H. Tafoya-Henderson” on the bottom.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
