Navasie, Fawn Garcia – 13″ Wide Jar with Eagle Tail Designs

Fawn Garcia Navasie (b. 1959) is also known as “Little Fawn”.  She is a daughter of Eunice “Fawn” Navasie and a sister of Dawn and Dolly Navasie.  This large jar is coil-built and stone-polished. The jar has a wide shoulder with a short neck and a turned-out rim. The entire jar is fully polished.  The top is painted with eight red-tail hawk tails.  Separating each tail are the bird wings.  It is a very complex and intricately painted design on a large jar.  Around the neck are interlocking bird wings.  The jar was traditionally fired so there are blushes on the surface.  It is signed on the bottom, “Fawn” with a deer track.  This is how she signed her pieces after her mother, Eunice “Fawn” Navasie (1920-1992) passed away.
