$ 29.95
This is a new book by authors RoseMary Diaz (Santa Clara), Daniel Gibson, and Deborah Busemeyer. The photos were taken by Kitty Leaken.
I have shown a few pages in the book. It has beautiful photographs and well written by RoseMary. It covers a variety of Pueblo art forms including pottery, drums, fashion, and jewelry. Artists included are Tammy Garcia, Jody Naranjo, Nampeyo of Hano, Maria Martinez, Mary Cain, Autumn Borts-Medlock, and Felipe Ortega. The focus of the book is on craftsmanship.
“Pueblo Artisans: Living Traditions in the American Southwest” is an expanded edition of Craftsmanship Magazine”s story collection on Native American Craft: The Southwest. Inside, you’ll meet potters, weavers, drum-makers, jewelers, and other Native American artisans who are carrying generations-old Pueblo arts forward as living practices, and continually shaping those traditions anew. This limited print edition includes many new photographs by Kitty Leaken and others, as well as new forewords that deepen the stories behind these remarkable traditions.
