George Alexander
George Alexander is a Muscogee artist, hailing from Oklahoma, who has always felt inspired by his Native heritage. “It’s important to juxtapose iconic native imagery with my own experience and use symbolism that speaks to my generation.” He seeks to push the boundaries of what is considered Contemporary Native Art. “I want to force the viewer to challenge their preconceived notions of ‘Indian’.” He graduated in 2016 from the Institute of American Indian Art. He has recently finished studying painting in Florence, Italy for two years and is again creating his art full time.
