Crucita Cruz was married to Pablo Cruz and the mother of Adelaia Cruz, Geronima Cruz, Reycita Cruz, and Romancita Cruz. She was one of the “Original Eight” who revived Ohkay Owingeh pottery beginning in 1930. She won numerous award for her pottery, including 1956 third prize at Gallup Ceremonials and awards at the 1962-63 New Mexico State Fair. In 1941 she won a major award at the Syracuse Museum of Fine Arts National Ceramics Exposition along with Reycita Trujillo. There were over 500 hundred artists from 38 states which were part of the competition. Throughout her career, she was well known for her creative pottery.
