Carnation Martinez Lockwood, Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo

Carnation Lockwood was a daughter of Carpio and Fidelia Martinez and a sister of Juanita Martinez and Felicita Cruz. She was the mother of Bill and Micheal Lockwood. She began to make pottery when her mother Fidelia passed away. Carnation made traditional Ohkay Owingeh pottery throughout the 1980s. She was profiled in the book, "Talking Through the Clay". Interestingly did not coil build her pottery but they were pinch pots up to 10 inches tall!
