Donicia Martinez Tafoya was the mother of noted potters Juan Tafoya and Elizabeth Lovato. She was married to Juan Tafoya, Sr (Santa Clara).  She was daughter of Teresa and Reyes Martinez.  She created black-on-black pottery but did not make a lot of pottery.  In her later years, she often worked with her children on her pieces.
