Mary Tapia Trujillo was originally from Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo. She married Leonard Trujillo of Cochiti Pueblo. She learned to make storyteller figurines from her mother-in-law, Helen Cordero. Mary is one of the most respected potters at Cochiti. When her husband Leonard was alive, he helped Mary, and together, they had been a pottery making team since the 1980s. Mary is among the premier figurine potters at Cochiti Pueblo. Mary and Leonard’s storytellers are represented in such prestigious collections as the Heard Museum and the School of American Research.
