$ 1,000.00

Karen Abeita is known for her traditional and innovative Hopi-Tewa pottery.  This jar is coil-built and made from red Hopi clay. The jar has a wide shoulder and a short neck. There are four Sikyatki-style hummingbirds as the design paitned with bee-weed and highlighted with white clay. The are painted on the top of the shoulder and the tails extend over the side.  The jar was traditionally fired with slight color variations.  It is signed on the bottom in bee-weed, “Karen Abeita”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  There is an honorable mention ribbon from the 1996 Santa Fe Indian Market.
