Dorothy Ami is known for her traditional style of Hopi-Tewa pottery. She is related to Mark Tahbo, and he taught her to make pottery. This jar has a round shoulder and elongated neck. It is painted with bee-weed (black) and a deep red clay slip. There are cloud, rain, and lightning designs. The jar was traditionally fired to create various blushes on the surface. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, ‘Dorothy Ami” and a pipe for Tobacco Clan.
