Ramona Ami (b. 1929)  was a daughter of Emma and Hale Adams.  She learned to make pottery from her sister, Marcella Kahe.  She was known for her use of traditional techniques, designs, and outdoor firing.  This jar is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay slips.  The piece has a wide shoulder and undulating rim. The piece is painted with four large butterflies.  Each has different designs on the wings.  There are small shard designs surrounding the butterflies.  It was traditionally fired so there are blushes on the surface.  It is signed on the bottom, “Ramona Ami”.  It is in excellent with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
