Wanda Aragon (b. 1948) is a daughter of noted potter Frances Torivio and a sister of Lilly Salvador. She is also known by her name in Acoma, Dzinats’ituwits’a. She is known for her traditional style of Acoma pottery. Each piece is coil-built using native clay and painted with bee-weed and natural clay slips. This jar is in the shape of a classic Acoma olla with a high shoulder and short neck. There are two large Acoma parrots painted on each side. They are under a double rainbow slipped with red and orange clay. Separating the birds is a section with rain, clouds, and flowers. The jar is tightly painted and creative in design. It is signed on the bottom “W. Aragon”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
