Archuleta, Mary Ester – Red Jar with Mountain and Cloud Designs (1970s)

Mary Ester Archuleta is the second youngest daughter of Margaret Tafoya.  She has never made a lot of pottery and was most active in the late 1960s through the 1980s. Today, she no longer makes pottery. This large jar is coil-built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired red. The jar has an interlocking cloud and mountain design. The mountains are the step design extending upward while the clouds are the extending downward.  The entire piece is fully polished red and traditionally fired.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Mary  Archuleta.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
