Alvin Baca is known for his classic melon ribbed jars. This jar has a taller shape and a turned-in rim.  It is fully carved with 24 ribs encircling the piece.  The entire jar is fully polished along with the rim.  Even the base of the jar is polished!  The shape is more classic for Santa Clara pottery and works nicely for Alvin’s style of carving and polish.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Alvin Baca”.
