Black, Elsie Bigman – 12″ Tall Wedding Vase with Pueblo Scenes (1990s)

7"w x 12.5"h

$ 300.00

This tall wedding vase is by Elise Bigman Black.  The jar is coil-built with a round body and elongated spouts.  There is a cliff dwelling scene in appliqué on each side.   The cliff dwellings are reminiscent of those in Canyon de Chelly.  The wedding vase was traditionally fired and has strong colorations across the surface and especially on the two cliff dwellings, which are each varied in color. After the firing, it was covered with pinon pitch.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “EB”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  Definitely a great piece of Navajo pottery history!
