Around the body of the jar is an avanyu.  Above the shoulder are 33 feathers.  Along the neck are rain and cloud design with a checkerboard show pattern around the rim of the jar.  The size, complexity of design, and colorations are all striking in person!  After it was painted it was traditionally fired. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Blue Corn, San Ildefonso.”  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
