Blue Corn – Black Jar with 47 Feathers (1970s)
$ 775.00
This is a classic jar by Blue Corn. She is certainly one of the most creative potters of her time, and she used a variety of clays and firing techniques to create her distinctive pottery. This jar has a low shoulder and sloping sides. It is painted with 47 feathers around the piece. The size of the bowl makes the feathers very tightly painted. It was stone polished to a high shine and then painted. The jar was traditionally fired to a glassy black coloration. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Blue Corn”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
