Blue Corn – Black Jar with Rain Designs (1960s)

3"w x 2"h

$ 275.00

This is a classic early jar by Blue Corn.  She is certainly one of the most creative potters of her time, and she used a variety of clays and firing techniques to create her distinctive pottery.  This jar has a low shoulder and a sloping neck.  The piece has painted rain and lightning designs on the neck.  It was stone polished to a high shine and then painted.  The jar was traditionally fired to a glassy black coloration with one area that is more brown in coloration.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Blue Corn”.   It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
