Debbie Brown is the daughter of Sarah Garcia and granddaughter of Jessie Garcia (one of the Four Matriarchs of the Acoma Pueblo pottery families). She learned to make pottery from her mother and grandmother.  This is a classic coil-built water jar. It is thin walled and painted with bee-weed (black) and clay slips.  The jar has large parrots on each side.  The are under a double rainbow.  Separating the birds are large rainclouds.  They are intricately painted with swirling clouds.  It is signed on the bottom, “Debbie G. Brown”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. repair.
