Mary Cain was a daughter of Christina Naranjo and a granddaughter of SaraFina Tafoya.  She was known for her classic style of carved and polished Santa Clara pottery.  Keith Tanin is a son of Margie Tanin and a nephew of potters Tina Diaz, Linda Cain, Joy Cain, and Billy Cain.  He is a grandson of Mary Cain and a great-grandson of Christina Naranjo.  This bowl was made by Keith and then carved and polished by Mary.  It is carved with an avanyu.  It is fully polished and fired a deep black coloration.  The piece is signed, “Keith Tanin, Mary Cain”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
