Denise Chavarria is a daughter of noted potter Stella Chavarria and a granddaughter of Teresita Naranjo. She is known for her contemporary pottery. This jar is fully carved with traditional cloud, rain and a river design. The carving is fluid and much of the design on this piece is reminiscent of the pottery of her grandmother, Teresita. It is fully polished and fired a deep black. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denise Chavarria”.
