Tony Da had a short career that spanned from 1967-82. Tony began making turtles as early as his first show in 1967 at Gallup Ceremonials. As they evolved, they became more sculptural in form. He created a casting from a clay piece entitled “Pueblo Amities”. There was a bronze edition of 25 and a silver edition of 25. All of the bronze pieces were eventually cast. This is a pair of both the silver and bronze castings. There were only 16 of the silver ones that were cast. This piece is 16/25 and it is solid sterling silver. There are two stones attached to the sides of the lizard lid. The bronze casting is 13/25. It also has turquoise stones on the lizard and a deep brown patina. Both are in excellent condition. They are to be sold as a pair.
