The entire surface is fully polished and then painted. There are rain, cloud, and prayer feather designs. Typical of Carlos’s painted designs, there is a lot of open space. The jar was fired a deep, glossy brown coloration, for he and his mother, Carmelita, were famous. There are some fugitive areas of the painted design which is not uncommon because of the firing for this coloraiton. Overall, it is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Carlos Sunrise Dunlap”.
