$ 1,400.00

Virginia Ebelacker was the eldest daughter of noted potter Margaret Tafoya.  She was known for her large-sized pottery as well as her deeply carved designs.  This jar has a classic shape with a sharp shoulder and turned-out rim.  The top of the shoulder is carved with cloud and lightning designs. The entire piece is fully polished, including the inside of the neck.  It was fired to a glassy black coloration.  The jar is signed, “Virginia Ebelacker”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  Her sons Richard and James were also both known for their distinctive large Santa Clara vessels.
