Folwell, Jody and Derek No-Sun-Brown – Deconstructed Rim Bowl with Deer and Hunter

Jody Folwell is known for her creative pottery shapes and designs. This is one of her open sided bowls that is meant to look like a clay brick that has melted away at both ends. Both ends of this piece are deconstructed. This means that after the jar is dried, she will rest the rim and the base in water to the clay wear away. On the three sides, the top has a Mimbres inspired antelope painted by Jody. The sides have a realistic hunter and deer by Derek No-Sun Brown, Kaa Folwell’s partner. The piece was fired and some of the pieces from the base of the bowl were also fired an then attached to the inside of the bowl. The deconstructed rims were also sealed after the firing. It is signed, “Jody” and “Derek No-Sun Brown” on the side.
