Gloria Garcia is known for her miniature pottery.  She is a daughter of Petra Gutierrez and the sister of Lois Gutierrez, Minnie Vigil, and Thelma Talachy.  This bowl is fully polished and fired a deep black. There is a mustang on one side and three war ponies on the other side.  They are etched in a ledger book style and highlighted with red clay.  Around the rim is a cloud pattern, again, highlighted with red clay.  The polishing is exceptional with a high glossy surface.  This piece is signed on the bottom with her Tewa name “GoldenRod”.

Gloria Garcia

Gloria Garcia (b.1942) is the daughter of Petra Gutierrez and a sister of potters Minnie Vigil, Lois Gutierrez, and the mother of Jason Garcia. Gloria is known for her intricately incised miniature pottery. Gloria has won numerous awards for her pottery over the years at Santa Fe Indian Market and has pottery in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.
