This seedpot by Gloria Garcia is fully polished and fired dark black. The top is fully designed with three hummingbirds and flowers. There is an additional red clay slip added to each hummingbird. There are two inset pieces of coral in the center of the flowers. Gloria’s combination of polishing and etched designs is always striking. This piece is signed on the bottom with her Tewa name “GoldenRod”.

Gloria Garcia

Gloria Garcia (b.1942) is the daughter of Petra Gutierrez and a sister of potters Minnie Vigil, Lois Gutierrez, and the mother of Jason Garcia. Gloria is known for her intricately incised miniature pottery. Gloria has won numerous awards for her pottery over the years at Santa Fe Indian Market and has pottery in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.
