.This large plate by John Gonzales is from 1998.  John was well known for his plates and their intricately etched designs.  This plate is matte tan with an incised offset feather and avanyu design.  Extending through the feathers and avanyu medallion is a second avanyu. There are inset pieces of turuqoise for the eyes of the avanyu and one in the center of the plate. The plate is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the back, “John Gonzales”.
