This large plate by John Gonzales is from 1997.  John was well known for his plates and their intricately etched designs.  This plate is matte tan with an incised design. There is a double feather pattern in the center surrounding a single piece of turquoise.  Extending out from the central stone are four avanyu etched into the clay.  There is a micaceous slip in the background area that has been etched away.  The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the back, “John Gonzales”.
