This plate by John Gonzales is from 1997. John was well known for his plates and intricately etched designs. This plate is matte tan. There is a band of feathers around the edged of the plate. The center has an etched avanyu. There is a piece of turquoise for the eye of the avanyu and in the center of the plate. There are two inset rows of shell and turquoise hei-shi beads. The background area, which has been etched away, has a micaceous clay slip. The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed on the back, “John Gonzales”.

In the center, the plate is matte red and there is a single inset piece of turquoise. There are two rows of turquoise hei-shi beads. The background area, which has been etched away, has a micaceous clay slip. The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed on the back, “John Gonzales”.
