Gutierrez, Lela – Polychrome Bowl with Rain Cloud Designs (1930s)
7"w x 5"h
$ 1,100.00
Lela Gutierrez began making pottery in the 1930’s. This is one of those early pieces with a polished rim and base along with a polychrome painted central section. She was among the first to begin making polychrome pottery at Santa Clara. The central band has delicately painted cloud and rain designs using white, black, and red colored clays. It is a fascinating piece in design. It is signed on the bottom, “Lela”. The jar is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
