Virginia Gutierrez was of the few polychrome potters from Nambe Pueblo. She was known for her experimentation with various clay slips. This long neck jar has a sharp shoulder. There are four bear paws painted onto the top of the shoulder. There is an additional rainbow band around the neck. The jar has four different colors of clay used on the piece. It is signed on the bottom, “V. Gutierrez”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
