Virginia Gutierrez was of the few polychrome potters from Nambe Pueblo. She was known for her experimentation with various clay slips. This seedpot is flat in shape with a sharp shoulder. It is painted with a avanyu with five multi-color clouds surrounded by feathers. There are EIGHT different colors of clay used on the piece. It is signed on the bottom, “V. Gutierrez”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
