This bowl is by Robert Allen Homer. He is a Zia and Hopi, and is a son of Marie Moquino and a nephew of Corn Moquino. It was Corn Moquino (Santa Clara) who taught him to make pottery. This piece is coil-built, stone polished, fired, and etched with design. One side has a realistic elk etched into the clay. The opposite side has a Mimbres deer. They are each two-toned sienna. Separating them is a triangular mountain design that is also etched into the clay. It is signed, “RH”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
