Dolores Juanico Aragon is a daughter of Marie S. Juanico and a granddaughter of Dolores Sanchez. She learned to make pottery from her mother. Each piece is coil built, painted with bee-weed (black), and painted with native clay slips. Much of Dolores’s pottery is inspired by historic Acoma vessels. This jar is a classic Acoma shape with a round shoulder and a short neck. It was inspired by a classic Acoma jar from 1910. There is a rainbow that is painted red. Above and below are tightly painted rain and plant designs. It is a complex pattern that looks both ancient and modern. It is signed on the bottom, “D. J. Aragon”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, restoration, or repair..

Dolores Juanico is a daughter of Marie S. Juanico. Her mother taught her to make pottery and Marie learned from her mother, Dolores Sanchez.
