Jennie Laate was among the most important revival potters at Zuni in the 1970’s.  This is one of her classic pieces in both shape and design.  The jar has rain birds painted around the rim.  Around the body of the jar, there are two large rosettes on either side.  Separating them are sections with heartline deer. The deer are delicately painted and separated by a band of birds.  All of these are design elements that are seen on classic Zuni vessels of the late 1800s.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “Jennie Laate”.
