Drew Lewis was a son of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis. This is a large, coil-built bowl made from native clay. The bowl is round in shape. It is paitned with bee-weed (black). There are four rows of interlocking leaf designs. Each leaf connects to the one next to it. It is a design made famous by his mother. The piece is signed on the bottom, “Drew Lewis”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is not often that we see pieces by Drew, especially in this larger size!

Drew Lewis was a son of noted potter Lucy M. Lewis. He was also a brother of Carmel, Dolores, and Emma Lewis. He was one of the few men at Acoma to begin making pottery in the 1970s and '80s. His work was known for its use of more modern forms but traditional designs.
